Barack Obama has been the President of the United States for about a year now, and his daily tracking poll result, has dipped to a 54% disapproval rating, according to Rasmussen daily tracking (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/Obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll ). However, Barack Obama could make a huge swing, become the popular President he was, and could also become one of the best Presidents in American history. Although, he has to give up the liberal/progressive mantras and go back to a simpler approach (with just following these five steps), to turn the ship around.
1. He should scrap the whole Health Care Bill, as the public is about two to one against the bill and public option (in almost every poll). Even if he has to veto his own bill, regardless of how hard the democrats try to ram it thru, he should pivot and demand the republicans and democrats go back to the drawing board. While starting over, there should be a health care "Reform" bill crafted (with across state line insurance, tort reform, and out of the box options thru American intelligence (most Americans are not privied to), and it should be 100% transparent, done in increments (1-2 parts, at a time), focusing on jobs, the economy, the deficit, and cohesion between the parties, with him (Obama) leading with a hands on approach (the whole way). No pork, no lobbyists, AARP (http://aarp.com/) out of the bill and no public option should be anywhere around the bill. Then he will look and be acting like the "populist," which he ran for President as.
2. He must send a clear signal to the troops and American people, he is in the corner of America first. There needs to be small steps, such as, not bowing to foreign leaders, or apologizing for America (being the U. S. has done more for the world, over the past one hundred years, in aid, food, medicine, etc..etc...). He should continue the draw down, out of Iraq (while posting updates, giving grades to staff and military alike, and continuing transparency, as much as possible), giving Americans the option to know, about things and wars in foreign lands. In Afghanistan, he must send the whole number of troops, General McNichol requested (4 months ago), and send Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates back to the NATO countries, for a demand of more troops from them, or an ultimatum they will be on their own, come the next terror attack (if they do not pitch in, in a huge way, with troops on the ground that fight). This will show he is not a "hawk," but is also not bound to the liberal/progressive agenda, making his foreign policy decisions for the betterment of Afghanistan and America. Lastly, he should make sure and start to force the Iran issue. The fact Israel has the five hundred pound bombs from us, and expecting them to do America's work, in Iran, is not acceptable. Sanctions and a blockade should be implemented, right after Christmas, in order to show how serious we are (with Iran) and to demand results (it isn't like their are not hundreds of pirates in the Straight of Hormuz anyway, so there is not peace/good times there now).
3. He has to lose the TelePrompTer. The man is a brilliant speaker and is beyond intelligent, so he should be able to memorize a speech (not ending on SNL, and late night talk shows, for his constant prompter reliance).
4. He must get ahead of the "Global Warming" emails, corruption, and should scrap the "Cap and Trade"/"Cap and Tax" bill he wants to push thru next. India and China, with a mix of the other Asian and developing nations (on his "Asian Trip") told him to jump in the river, as they will not be curbing any kind of significant carbon emissions (even though the Chinese, in cities, constantly wearing masks to breathe). Therefore, it will not matter what America does, in this arena at all. Instead of going to Copenhagen, for the "Global Warming Summit" (which is a joke, every year, due to the above) and asking for nations to do things they will not do (unless America curbs over 60% of our "greenhouse gases"), he should talk and make a manifesto of "Global Currency Thru Stewardship." When presenting this, which would be a job builder for cleaning up America (from litter, pollution, to things every person can do daily, to make our country better, thru citizens). He could come home with a new idea and will not be taxing energy, there will be no illusions about the thousands of emails (hacked from scientists, who are "experts" on global warming, saying they were wrong about the majority of the global warming charge, altogether) making the whole global warming community look and seem without charge, changing our whole infrastructure, and letting G&E (http://generalelectric.com/) rebuild and become the AARP of energy. This will also serve as almost a tax break, which he could sell it as, because he would not be hiking up all energy costs (which he has readily admitted, on multiple occasions). This coupled with the fact he would look more and more as a "populist," would also boost his numbers and American's attitudes (as they would be pitching in, or being hired for jobs in this area). It would be a message of "we are all Americans, and we should all be the best stewards of our country, as possible. Utilizing schools, real science in high schools and colleges (not the fake and trumped up global warming charges), and focus on the constant fight to keep America clean, instilling a feeling of pride in our country, with the youth.
5. Last, Barack Obama has to become the man the youth and Independents voted for, thru making a contract with the republicans, to bring the government back to cooperation, not a constant wait for a nuclear option. With the four things above, there will be massive support from most republicans, and it will once again, do wonders for the American people's psyche.
The Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are here, so Barack Obama has the perfect time to start crafting his way back to the greatness he was voted in for, with "change." Congress and the Senate will be gone for a good portion of the time, during these holidays, the American public will be hammering them (while they are at home, just like in August and September), so it will also look like he has taken a huge look at his multiple policies, in which just liberal/progressives like, as a rule. These five simple changes would make Obama's poll points rise, but it is also in the best interest of the country. When Americans are happy, they speak with their votes, and right now 2010 and 2012 are looking like the democrats will be losing seats, and Obama may lose the Presidency (in 2012). Therefore, if he wants to be an "Abraham Lincoln," then he must not only be strong here, with the people of America, but also strong abroad. Showing and leading, with options and ideas out of the box, with bi-partisan support. Although, if he does continue down this path of constant escalating national debt, cutting half of Medicare (http://medicare.gov/) for the new health care bill, and not being a servant of the people, rather being a dictator of the people, he will either perish in 2012, or he may liberal/progressive America to bankruptcy and the American people to rebellion.
