These three television programs, this past Sunday, was filled with a great topic (Health Care/Universal Health Care/Health Care Reform, depending on whom you ask, to explain the topic name). On "Meet The Press," anchored by David Gregory, had Sen. Charles Schumer and Sen. Orin Hatch debating. On "Sunday With Chris Wallace (on Fox)" Sen. Arlen Specter and two people from the V. A. (talking about the "Death Care/End of Life Choices" brochure, which is still on the VA web site ( http://www.va.gov/ ). Last, but not least, Clinton Appointee "George Stephanopoulos" had Sen. John McCain, who spoke on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, plus health care.
There are bills from the Democrats (4-6), (3) from the Republicans, but there are no bills on Health Care Reform from President Obama. Obama has given the whole "Health Care Reform" chore, to everyone but himself, even though health care is 15-20% (depending on what happens and how much is spent in the current situation). The American people are finally starting to wake up to what the problems of revamping the whole health care system, the fact Republicans have been locked out of talks (like with Tarp 2, Omnibus, and the other bills passed since Obama has become President of the United States), and how important every choice is becoming for the country and it's people. Therefore, anyone reading this should try to figure out what makes more sense, in the following quotes (I did not go with every person who was on the Sunday shows, as they mostly stuck to "talking points", but I did pick three out from the President and John McCain):
1. Barack Obama has seemed to back away from the "public option on health care," but refuses to say he will not rule it out completely, in 2009. However, this is what he said on November 22, 2004, in an interview with Randi Rhodes (a personality on Air America, conducted on http://youtube.com/). Obama said, "When you rush these budgets that are a foot high and nobody has any idea what's in them and nobody has read them, it gets rushed through without any clear deliberation, or debate. Then these kinds of things happen, and I think that this is in some ways what happened to the Patriot Act. I mean you remember that there was no real debate about that. It was so quick, after 9/11, that it was introduced people felt very intimidated by the administration.
2. Recently in an interview, on the radio, with Michael Smerconish, Barack Obama said this, "I am confident we will get it (health care) done, and as far as negotiations with the Republicans, my attitude has ALWAYS been let's see if we can get this done, with some consensus. I would love to have more Republicans engaged in the process. I think early on they (Republicans and Independents) a decision was made by the Republican leadership, to not give anything and maybe we can get a replay of the 1993 health care bill." (the 1993 "HillaryCare Bill" was defeated and the Republicans took control of the House and Senate, in 1994)
3. John McCain said, "Now would be a good time, as the President's numbers are falling fast on health care. To get both parties, with the President, together. Realize, Obama has NO PLAN. They have been made by the congress and Senate, but NOT with the Administration. Then we can all sit down and speak our minds and our pieces, then Obama can say WHAT HE WANTS."
After reading this and watching the Sunday shows (what people from all parties said, if you did), who sounds and is showing leadership here? President Obama has said, several times, "I do not care if it takes 15 to 20 years to get 'Universal Health Care', if it is not passed soon." Then there is the lack of details, numbers, and the fact nobody has given the overall, CONCRETE outlook on how much this will all cost. Americans must continue to look at this issue, and make sure it is what you wish. The people from the V. A. talked about "End of Life Issues," because of being in a wheel chair, possibly having post traumatic stress (one of the questions is actually, "can you not shake the blues"), and some other things in black and white (on the V. A. web site above). There is no time, but the present, to make sure the government and Barack Obama (who doesn't have a bill, or really any specifics, to his name) do not take the country into a slope of "If you are not worth anything to the government, then you should just die." Only you can do the research, read the web site ( http://whitehouse.gov/), and arm yourself with knowledge and wisdom.
