Dealing With North Korea And Rogue Nations

Throughout history there have been tyrants, challengers for land, people and the spoils of war, and then those leaders who were brilliant and then some who were just plain nuts. From the beginning of time, people like kings (thru the "Old Testament" http://www.thebible.com/), Mohammed making a treaty in Mecca only to bring a 10,000+ man Muslim army back a year later to take over the city (for Islamic rule, in 630 AD), Napoleon, Hitler, Benito Mussolini (Italy WW II), Saloth Sar (a. k. a. Pol Pot, leader of the Khmer Rouge, leading to "The Killing Fields"), to today's leaders, such as, Osama Bin Laden, the Taliban (as a group), Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Iran), and of course Kim Jong-il (North Korea). All different leaders, with different rational for their horrid acts and deaths of countless lives, for reasons ranging from cultural, power, religion, hate, and some were just plain out of their heads (King Henry XIII, Kim Jong-il, etc..etc...). The reasons for these men doing the tragic acts, they plotted out, are as long as the history of people, themselves.

Therefore, how does the United States, in today's world, deal with people like Jong-il, who in just one week's time, has shown the U. S. North Korea's newest nuclear program (with plutonium, rather than the uranium facilities, U. S. intelligence believed was the only programs they had) and lobbing bombs into South Korea, killing two South Korean Soldiers, blowing up shopping centers and a handful of residential places? This, of course, not counting the fact North Korea's boldness, over the last year, having war games in South Korean waters, threatening South Korea's border (with United States soldiers standing by, with them), and the shooting of a South Korean Battleship with a torpedo. Barack Obama's actual statement, of "North Korea's actions being completely not acceptable" and starting the United States Navy towards Korea, for "joint war games," with the South Korean Government is a good start. However, the United States is not looking to start a third war, with a nuclear nation. The minute air strikes, missiles from ships, or anything else hits the North, all bets are off, on what Kim Jong-il's response will be.

Yet, this is not the biggest problem facing Obama, the U. S., and it's allies in the Asian Region. In fact, there are two huge problems, if the South Korean Government was to start another "Korean War." China will immediately start cyber attacks on the United States, will drop our debt and lower their own currency (causing a world wide economic catastrophe), and this will draw in Japan and other countries into choosing sides (including the N. A. T. O. allies, who are not economically in a sound position, making it not a "gimme" they will side with the United States, or may just sit it out). The second problem is that, as Hillary Clinton said in February of 2010, "We just do not know what the North Korean's have proliferated, in the nuclear area," so there may be a chance of Iran, Syria, or other rogue elements (Al-Queada, other Muslim terrorists) to bring in a nuclear suitcase, or just start a string of "lone wolf" attacks (using conventional explosives) all over the country and in Europe, South Korea, and Japan.

At the present time, there is no clear cut idea how to handle North Korea, other than begging China to step in, as hard ball may back fire and the "carrot and the stick option" (used over the past 20 years, with the North Korea regime) hasn't worked at all. Dealing with these tyrants, mad men, or whatever else these leaders can be classified as, is a tough situation all the way around. Especially, when they are allowed thru weak treaties, no verification by U. S. departments (on whether they are fulfilling obligations on nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons), and a milk toast foreign policy. The bottom line is to stop these people (see Iran) from obtaining and utilizing their power, when obtaining certain things which threaten the whole world, in the first place. As after they have obtained these weapons of mass destruction, or have leaders in place who are just not mentally stable and willing to do whatever they wish, for whatever reasons they deem necessary, the world and the U. S. will continue to be behind the eight ball. Let us all hope, world wide, thru this Thanksgiving holiday, things will level out, calmer heads will prevail, and the rogue states of the world will possibly come to their senses (either naturally, thru other countries putting pressure on them, or a Godly intervention), as no country needs to loose anymore lives, across the globe.
